Spring in the Smokies: The Adventures of Emily Dreaux
Ramps: These wild leeks are PUNGENT. Don't try to get out of jury duty by eating these - you'll have to serve double time. Ramps are featured in my "Spring" book.
Emily relocates to a remote part of the Smoky Mountains. Here she experiences a simpler life, a time when life takes a slower pace. This hybrid book features Emily's adventures while featuring the flora and fauna of the Spring season of the magnificent Smoky Mountains.
This is first in a series of four books, each featuring a different season of the year in that wonderful habitat.
Summer in the Smoky Mountains
I have just returned from my mountain stomping grounds this summer. What I figured would be a "Summer" book turned into :Uncle Martin's Porch Tales." It is a short story written it in the colloquialisms of northwestern North Carolina. People in this area use words such as "yuns" in place of "yall" or the plural "you." "Up there" is pronounced "up ar." The copperhead snake is a part of this short plot featuring a little girl's love for her beloved beagle pup June Bug was bitten by this venomous snake.
